Foleshill Depot
Though closed in 1954, the site has not been significantly redeveloped
although a newer block of offices has been constructed on the forecourt. The
tram track leading to the site of the depot building remains in situ.

This picture shows the offices of Coventry Contract Services. They are built
on the forecourt of Foleshill Tram depot. The original depot building still
exists, but is totally obscured from view by the newer offices.
|
|
The remains of the forecourt are now used as a car park. The only obvious sign
of it's previous use it the track and point work which now disappear under the
building.
|
The two pictures below show the pointwork in detail. Below right is a a view
showing the maker's name and what appears to be access for lubrication purposes.
|
|
The rear yard of the Coventry Contract Services offices is not accessible to the
public. Special permission was granted for a visit in January 2000 to take the
following photographs.
|
The picture above left shows the rear of the new office building. The tram
lines remain in situ. The buildings in the background can also been seen in
photographs taken when trams still operated. The windows appear to be original
and there are very few visible alterations. The picture above right shows the
fan of trackwork as it approaches the site of the former entrance. The original
entrance was behind this newer construction. The roof has been replaced and
there appears to be little if any of the original depot building left.
|
These final photographs show some of the trackwork on the forecourt
a little more clearly.

Thanks go to Ian Fulton, Head of Catering Services with Coventry Contract
Services for allowing access to the premises to enable these photographs to
be taken.
